Reducing emissions

Logistics

Logistics emissions have decreased by almost 20,000 tCO₂e, representing a 29% reduction against 2018 and a 21% reduction compared to 2024. This has been achieved by Formula 1 continuing to implement its ultra efficient logistics strategy including lower carbon solutions across land, sea & air transport for the first time.

Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF)

Formula 1 removed approximately 20,000 tCO₂e from its operations during the 2025 season following a major expansion of the sport’s Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) programme. Central to this progress is Qatar Airways, whose leadership and logistical expertise as F1’s Global Airline Partner have played a pivotal role in enabling the SAF framework to grow from a pilot initiative into a cornerstone of the sport’s sustainability efforts. Leveraging its operational capabilities, Qatar Airways has delivered economies of scale that make SAF investment viable across the F1 ecosystem. This partnership ensures that the sport’s air‑freight footprint is significantly reduced without compromising the efficiency required for a global calendar.

Future Race Operations (FRO)

As Formula 1’s Official Consulting Partner, PwC has played a key role in advancing our Future Race Operations programme. By analysing global race operations and identifying opportunities to optimise processes for greater efficiency, resilience and scalability, PwC is helping F1 accelerate progress toward its sustainability ambitions. This includes supporting the transition of more than 50% of Formula 1’s current broadcast and related freight from air to sea transport, reducing emissions while strengthening the continuity and long-term resilience of race operations across the calendar.

Sustainable Maritime Fuel (SMF)

In 2025, Formula 1 made its first investment in sustainable maritime fuel, a lower carbon solution which will see consistent and growing investment from the sport in coming years as more freight travels this way.
